James is a first-year professional, having graduated from the Town Academy at the end of last season. He made his first-team debut in the 1-1 draw at Oldham last April, setting up the equalising goal for Luke Beckett.
James has played for the Republic of Ireland at under-18 level and has impressed in the Reserve team with his performances in central midfield. He is very comfortable on the ball and he can break up play well too. James is contracted to Town until the summer of 2010.
