SHEFFIELD UTD: PRE-MATCH ANALYSIS
Town welcome Sheffield United to the Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday night in the second round of the Carling Cup.
Boss Stan Ternent will be hoping for an improved result and performance after Saturday's disappointing 3-1 home defeat to the Milton Keynes Dons, meaning Town have only taken two points out of a possible nine in the league.
However Championship Sheffield United, who are managed by ex-Leeds United and Luton Town manager Kevin Blackwell, had a comfortable 3-1 victory away at Blackpool at the weekend, meaning they have won their last three games in all competitions.
PAST MEETINGS
United were founded in 1889, nineteen years before Town were founded, and by the time Town were born United had won the League once and the FA Cup twice.
Town have a very good overall record against Sheffield United; the sides have met 95 times in all competitions with Town winning 37, Sheffield United winning 24 times, and 34 games ending in draws.
At the Galpharm we are unbeaten against United since September 1995, when we lost 2-1 in the Old 1st Division (now the Championship).
We last played the Blades in pre-season and we won 2-1 thanks to goals from Danny Cadamarteri and Keigan Parker.

TEAM NEWS - SHEFFIELD UNITED
Kevin Blackwell rang the changes in their last league cup game against Port Vale and he might do the same here; however he will be assessing skipper Chris Morgan's head injury and also former Town hero Jon Stead's groin strain that kept him out against Blackpool on Saturday.
ONE TO WATCH - BILLY SHARP

A former Sheffield United Trainee, Sharp who is a right footed striker who set League One alight in the 2006/2007 season with Scunthorpe United, finishing the campaign as the league's top goalscorer with 30 goals. He then came back to his roots when he signed for hometown club Sheffield United for £2 million on the 4th of July 2007; since then he has scored 7 goals in 32 games. He scored a hat trick against Queens Park Rangers two weekends ago and is forming a good partnership with Darius Henderson in attack - one that Town's defence will have to be aware of come Wednesday!
THE REF - NIGEL MILLER (County Durham)

Nigel Miller will take charge of tomorrow night's game and he should be a familiar face to most Town fans.
He has been taking charge of Football League games since the start of the 2003/04 campaign and since that time he has been involved in some pivotal moments involving the Terriers.
- Miller was the man in the middle for Peter Jackson's first game back as Town boss - the 2-2 draw with Cambridge at the Galpharm Stadium in August 2003.
- He also bossed the dramatic 2-0 win at York City in the same season, when David Mirfin famously scored.
- Miller dismissed defender Efe Sodje during a 6-3 Football League Trophy defeat at Blackpool in November 2004.
- He also dismissed Danny Cadamarteri last season for 'over-celebrating' a goal against Nottingham Forest during a 1-1 draw at the Galpharm Stadium.
- Miller also dismissed Doncaster defender Matthew Mills after he had denied Town a clear goalscoring opportunity during a 2-2 draw at the Galpharm in April.
So far this season, Miller has refereed three games - sending off two players and booking seven!
