Town returned to winning ways with a committed and convincing victory over visitors Luton at the Galpharm this afternoon. Goals from Beckett and home debutant Cadamarteri were enough for the three points and the clean sheet will be a welcome bonus for Ritchie. The return of Cadamarteri and Sinclair to the squad after injury proved to be key as did the steadying influence of loan man Wallwork.

Luton crafted the first chance of the game in the fourth minute when Paul Furlong was allowed a free header at the edge of the box after Keogh had slipped on the greasy surface. Furlong's flick allowed Paul McVeigh to forge into the area before hitting a weak, snap shot which Matt Glennon had covered at his near post.

BOOKING: Dean Bell became the first player in referee Whitestone's book on 25 minutes when he scythed down Chris Brandon on the left hand touchline.

BOOKING: The first booking was quickly followed by a second, this time for Nathan Clarke who found his way into the book for tripping Luton keeper Ben Alnwick

Luke Beckett had Town's first chance of the half on 28 minutes when Malvin Kamara's left-foot cross from the right flank was met by the striker on the edge of the area. Unfortunately the cross had little pace for Beckett to add to and the ball bounced harmlessly into the hands of the keeper.

Nathan Clarke came to Town's rescue soon after with a brilliant sliding tackle in the box on Paul Furlong to deny the striker a shot on goal. Dean Morgan had played the ball into the centre for Furlong who swung his leg but saw the ball nicked off his toe by the covering Clarke.

Town crafted the best move of the game just after the half hour mark when Ronnie Wallwork overlapped down the right flank and exchanged a neat 1-2 with Andy Holdsworth. Malvin Kamara then crossed the ball into the box for Cadamarteri who turned neatly onto his left foot but could not get the power on his shot to beat Alnwick.

BOOKING: Paul Furlong was the next player to be entered into Whitestone's book for persistent fouling.

GOAL: Town were fired into the lead on 35 minutes and it was leading scorer Luke Beckett who found the net after good work by Cadamarteri. A Matt Glennon free-kick was challenged for by Beckett and Forjut, the ball eventually falling to Cadamarteri in the box. The Town striker's shot ricocheted off keeper Alnwick before falling into the path of Beckett who took his time before planting the ball into the back of the net.

Andy Holdsworth went close just before half time with a rasping drive from 30 yards which flew just wide.

HALF TIME: HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1 LUTON TOWN 0

SUB: Blackwell made a double change at half time when Dean Morgan was replaced by Darren Currie and Paul McVeigh was replaced by Drew Talbot.

SENDING OFF: Furlong was dismissed just a minute into the half for a second bookable offence which, under other circumstances, could have been a straight red. Assistant referee Smallwood flagged for an elbow by Furlong on Keogh and referee Whitestone had no choice but to issue a second yellow card to the Luton striker.

Cadamarteri had Town's next effort on 51 minutes when he collected the ball on the edge of the area and despite spotting the runners, elected to shoot from 30 yards but saw his effort fly just a yard wide.

BOOKING: Andy Holdsworth was next into Whitestone's book for a challenge on Jackson although the card was probably given for persistent fouling.

GOAL: Town added a second goal on the hour mark and it was Danny Cadamarteri who opened his Town tally on his full home debut. It was a great flowing break by Town started by Chris Brandon who intercepted a pass on the right flank, played a neat ball to Andy Holdsworth who drew a challenge from Chris Perry before sliding the ball through to Cadamarteri who was free in the centre 40 yards out. No one was going to catch him for pace and he simply rounded Alnwick before slotting the ball home.

SUB: Blackwell made his final change of the game 68 minutes when Richard Jackson was replaced by Calvin Andrew.

SUB: On 72 minutes Andy Ritchie made his first change of the game replacing Danny Cadamarteri with Michael Collins. Collins went to the right of midfield, with Kamara replacing Cads in attack.

Great work down the right flank by Kamara and then Collins almost saw Town add a third when Collins cut the ball back to the penalty spot for Holdsworth but the midfielder saw his effort roll inches wide of Alnwick's right-hand post.

SUB: Ritchie made his second change of the game on 80 minute replacing Chris Brandon with Matthew Young.

Bell almost pulled one back for the visitors on 82 minutes when he got the wrong side of Frank Sinclair for the first time in the game and attempted to lob Glennon but his effort was high and wide of the mark.

Ronnie Wallwork almost capped his influential performance with a goal on 86 minute but the angle of his drive from the edge of the area proved too tight.

SUB: Ritchie made his final change of the game on 87 minutes replacing Luke Beckett with Andy Booth.

BOOKING: Keogh found his way into the book on 89 minutes for a foul on Bell.

BOOKING: Andrews found his was into the book for a late challenge on Kamara.
